An Iranian company with cooperation of an UK based firm designed a software enable to send Notices To Mariners on board the vessels in Digital format which is called “Bridge Direct”
CEO of Kasra Port & Shipping Service Co. who has a close hand on designed & production of this software, said: "Shipping and Marine have their own rules and regulations like other transportation industry branches and much more equipment and facilities is needed for more safety purpose. Before 1385, many Iranian ships and vessels had to provide their requirements for the preparation of B. A. Charts and other Nautical Publications which are necessities for sailing in international waters from foreign companies mainly located at UAE ports."
Capt. Kasra Kordi stating that to resolve this deficit he has established this company in 2006, added: "After the establishment of the company, the authorities and international organizations such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Admiralty (United Kingdom Hydrographic Office ) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has approved the company and now Kasra has appointed as Official Sub-Distributor of UKHO as well as Distributors for IMO and also acting as reseller for ITU in Iran."
He mentioned the need to send quickly the changes of seas and open seas information, to ships, said: "British Admiralty, is receiving all information and changes of seas and international waters from variety of Hydrographic Offices and they are forwarding this data ( Weekly NTM’s ) to the shipping companies through their distributors as a manual/ Booklets through their representative offices in around the world; This information is very important for vessel's safety, but due to the format of them as a printed manual, in most cases it is too late and the delay comes about a month to get applicants."
He added: "To resolve this problem, Kasra company along with JOHN LILLEY & GILLIE Company have provided a facility with their special designed software, the capability of sending this changes information to the ships through e-mail on regular basis."
According to Capt. Kordi, the software which has been approved by the Admiralty's technical officers; with its high capability in resolution and data classification sends needed information for each ship with regards to her Index and this facility avoids postal delays and costs.
